Sheikh Mohammad Al-Amin is a Founder, Chairman & CEO at OKAYPIA. He was born on 21 September 1987 in Sharifpur village of Derai upazila of Sunamganj district of Sylhet. His father's name is Sheikh Mohammad Aptab Mia, mother's name is Achia Begum. He is known as a writer and social activist. His notable novel SHESPRANTE was published in 2012 by Kakali Publications. Established Bangladesh Ideal Human Welfare Association (BIHWA) in 2008. A special project of this was the BCTI Bihwa Computer Training Institute-BCTI (BTEB Reg No. 60024) which he established in 2010. Till 2020 he was in charge as Principal.
In March 2020, it was confirmed that the coronavirus (COVID-19) had spread in Bangladesh. Every day, the outbreak continues to spread and the number of infected people increases. Bangladesh is the second most affected country in South Asia after India.
To protect the population, the government announced a nationwide lockdown from March 23 to May 30. Due to increasing deaths and infections, the lockdown was extended. During this time, offices and courts were closed, businesses were closed and people were confined to their homes. While this protected people from the virus, it also made it difficult for them to earn a living.
On September 15, 2020, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Amin founded the online service called Okapiya Online Market Place. He started delivering food to nearby families with his students and gradually expanded his service to other districts and then across the country. Besides distributing food, he and his team also distributed masks, hand sanitizers and other essential items. They have helped people get medical care and provided educational materials to children unable to go to school due to the lockdown. Okapia has also worked with other organizations to help vulnerable communities. During the 2022 floods, Bihwa and Okaypia distributed dry food and medicine to the flood-affected people of Sunamganj's Haor area in a joint initiative
